The »IMPRO« is one of the largest festivals for improvisational theater in Europe and has been bringing together changing improv artists from all over the world nearly every year since 2001.

»Die Gorillas« traditionally invite artists from all around the world to the festival, to try out new improv formats, as well as to develop existing ones further on a high international level​.

The festival is a week-long ​celebration of improvised theater. Over time the shows ranged from improvised radio plays, musicals​ and different dramatic genres to performative formats. Location included not only classical theatre houses but also unusual locations such as a bus, a piano maker’s studio and a market hall, only to name a few..

Regular venues besides our home ground, the »Ratibor Theater« included the »English Theatre Berlin | IPAC«, the »Mehringhoftheater« and many more.

Now there’s nothing more to say then :
We are honored to invite the international community to another improv celebration from 1st to 6th April 2025.

As an independent theater ensemble, we have been improvising in Berlin since 1997 and believe in the “philosophy” of improvisation: acceptance, trust, saying yes, flexibility, listening to and continuing the ideas of those playing with us.

We develop methods to sustainably anchor improvisation in social, intercultural, therapeutic, educational and community-promoting contexts. The result: many regular and constantly new projects dedicated to further develope and disseminate our way of working. Improv has become a fundamental part of our artistic expression.

Today, we run Berlin’s largest school for improvisation, where we give courses for amateurs and acting colleagues all year round. We support companies and their employees in training sessions with improvisation techniques and improvise business theater shows for company events and conferences.

For more than 20 years the Gorillas have organized the Berlin improv festival »IMPRO«. For this year’s edition we are happy to announce, that Inbal Lori will take over the position of the artistic director of the festival.

Hello everybody!

My name is Inbal Lori and I am the artistic director of the Berlin IMPRO Festival 2025.

During the last 15 years I have been hosted in so many festivals around the world and met the most incredible people. Those festivals have boosted my performance, philosophy, experience and understanding of improvisation so much – they have made me the improviser that I am today.

I know that I am part of a bigger community of creative people who are always hungry to learn and develop more. The improvisers that we are, are a beautiful mix of so many cultures, languages and philosophies. It is inspired by all the people we met along the way.

This experience of individuals, sharing collective creativity is exactly the experience I would like to share with you in our upcoming festival.
