IMPRO ’25 »Formations«
The Vision

What’s it all about
This year’s festival is dedicated to the exploration of techniques, tools and approaches. We will create two brand new improvised formats during the festival-week and perform them on stage of the »Ratibor Theater« on the weekend. On Sunday the formats will be played as a showcase by our intensive masterclass students.
The formats will be created by Hila Di Castro and Paula Galimberti together with a cast of 5-6 professional improvisers that they will each work with.
Our wish and proposal is, that these formats will be taken and used by anyone who participated, joined or just watched shows during our festival.
We invite you to take those formats back home, try them out in their original form or change them to your liking. Develop them further, take parts or create something completely new out of them – so be inspired in any way you want.
The formats are free to be performed by anyone, no matter where, we only ask you to credit the director of the format and the Berlin »IMPRO« festival.
Why are we doing this
Why not? We are already doing it all the time anyway!
Improvisation is a living, breathing art. It is influenced by time, culture, politics and the individuals who practice it.
Therefore it would be super lovely to find out, what do we – as individuals and community – wish to create at this exact point in time.
Improvisation is also an art form that feeds on freedom, shared inspirations and a collective ongoing brainstorming. So let’s add 2 more brand new formats to the pot and let them boil with all the other ideas, skills, approaches and influences.

For Whom is this festival
We invite improvisers from all over the world, to take part in this celebration.
We offer different workshops around skills, formats and techniques, that will enrich the performance of all participants.
We invite you to watch the open rehearsals, see the shows and take individual workshops or the masterclasses to dig into one of the two formats, each taught by the artistic directors personally.
We want you all to go back to your cities, countries and communities, full of inspiration that will spark new works, creations, improvisation and beyond.
